The other day, I was holding my two year old daughter while walking around the house. All of a sudden, she gasps, throws her arms around my neck, and says, "I'm falling!" My arm was still under her butt, she was secure in my arms, yet something had caused her to feel that she was going to fall. I couldn't help but chuckle and reassure her that she was safe while she was in my arms.
Later, I wondered if God ever feels the same about us. If sometimes, a new worry crops up, a temptation, a pandemic, and we cry out, "I'm falling! I'm not safe! I'm not in control!" I wonder if God looks us in the eyes in those moments and tries to reassure us, "You are in my arms. I've got you."
In John 10:27-29, Jesus says: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand."
No matter what is going on in the world around you, no matter what you are feeling, if you have placed your faith in Jesus and are following Him, He assures you that you are firmly in the grasp of the Father. Though you may feel like you are slipping, though the world may seem crazy, though you might not understand all that is going on, nothing can snatch you from the Father's hand. The worries of this world are temporary. The loving grasp of the Father is everlasting.
